Youth Sports Leagues in Wake Forest: What's Open Now (2026)

Spring and summer registration is happening now. Here's what's open, what's closing soon, and what you'll kick yourself for missing.


If you've got a kid who wants to play this spring or summer, you're already behind on some of these. Most Wake Forest youth sports programs have registration windows that close weeks before the season starts, and the popular ones fill up quietly while you're still thinking about it.

Baseball, Softball & T-Ball

Town of Wake Forest

The town runs youth baseball, softball, and T-ball through Parks, Rec & Cultural Resources.

  • Ages: Boys 5 to 17, Girls 5 to 16
  • Season: Mid-March through June (games April to June)
  • Cost: $60 residents / $100 non-residents
  • Registration: Via Team Sideline
  • What to know: 1 to 2 practices per week, 8 to 10 games. End-of-season tournament for 10U and up. New players need a birth certificate. Age determined as of April 30, 2026.

North Wake County Baseball Association (NWCBA)

Competitive and recreational baseball leagues plus travel team opportunities. Based right here in Wake Forest since 1979.

Town of Rolesville Baseball & Softball

Rolesville runs its own youth baseball and softball leagues through Parks & Rec. Spring registration typically opens in January for residents.

Town of Youngsville Baseball & Softball

Youngsville runs PONY league baseball and softball. The spring 2026 season is underway (March 16 to June 6). Registration was January to February.

SixFour3 Softball Camp (Wake Forest, June 22 to 26)

One-week softball camp at SixFour3 in Wake Forest. All skill levels, grouped by ability for drills and stations.

  • Time: 9 AM to 3 PM, Monday to Friday
  • Cost: $329 (28 slots available)
  • What to bring: Lunch Mon through Thu (pizza party Friday), athletic shoes (no cleats)

Softball Skills Field Day (April 11)

Two sessions of skills clinics led by high school and collegiate coaches:

  • Session 1 (9:30 to 11:00 AM): Intro to Pitching/Catching + Coaching Clinic
  • Session 2 (11:00 AM to 12:30 PM): Intermediate Pitching/Catching + Hitting & Defense
  • Cost: $30/session
  • Registration: Open now through April 10 on Team Sideline

Soccer

NBT Soccer (Wake Forest Recreation League)

This is Wake Forest's local rec soccer league, at St. Catherine of Siena.

  • Ages: 3 to 13 (Intro to Soccer for ages 3 to 4 is separate)
  • Schedule: Practices Thursdays, games Sundays 1:30 to 5:30 PM
  • Cost: $100 (ages 3 to 4) / $125 (ages 5 to 14)
  • Location: 520 W Holding Ave, Wake Forest
  • Uniforms: New players buy red & white jerseys ($30 for both)

MWC Sports Complex (Youngsville)

MWC runs spring and summer soccer leagues for younger kids.

  • Spring Soccer Shootout League (ages 3 to 5). March 10 to May 9, 2026.
  • Summer Soccer Series (ages 6 to 7). May 19 to July 25, 2026.

Volleyball

Town of Wake Forest Girls' Volleyball

The town runs a girls' volleyball league with registration opening in April. This is one of the few summer league sports in Wake Forest, so mark your calendar.

  • Ages: Girls 9 to 16
  • Registration: Opens April 1 (residents), April 8 (non-residents). Late registration with $15 fee through May 8 if spots remain.
  • Season: Teams formed mid-May, practices start mid-May, games run through mid-July.
  • Locations: Flaherty Park Community Center, Joyner Park Community Center, local school gyms
  • Registration: Team Sideline

Lacrosse

Carolina Youth Lacrosse Club (CYLC, boys K to 8th grade)

Rec lacrosse right here in Wake Forest. 1.5-hour practices twice a week, weekend games, two playdays per season.

  • Spring 2026 season: February 14 to April 30
  • Schedule: K to 4th Mon/Wed 6 to 7:30 PM. 5th to 8th Tue/Thu 6 to 7:30 PM.
  • Location: Harris Creek Elementary, 3829 Forestville Rd, Raleigh
  • Cost: K to 2nd $100, 3rd to 4th $260, 5th to 6th $310, 7th to 8th $385. Goalies play free.

Wake Forest Whippets (girls youth lacrosse)

Girls youth lacrosse in Wake County, part of the NC Girls Lacrosse League. Practices 1 to 2 days per week, games on Saturdays.


Flag Football

Town of Rolesville Flag Football

  • Registration opens: May 11 for residents, May 18 for non-residents. Closes July 10.

Basketball

Basketball is a fall/winter sport in the Wake Forest area. If you're reading this in spring or summer, here's what to watch for next season:

Town of Wake Forest Basketball. Boys and girls ages 5 to 17. Registration opens in September, season runs December to mid-February. Via Team Sideline.

Wake County Basketball Association (WCBA). Rec league, grades 1 to 12, coed. Season runs late Feb to late April. Registration opens mid-January and fills fast. Games at the Boys & Girls Club on Fox Road. wcbahoops.com

Town of Rolesville Basketball. Registration typically in the fall.

Town of Youngsville Basketball. Registration opens September. Season runs November to January. RecDesk

Sutton Basketball Academy — Spring Break Camp (March 31 to April 1)

If your kid needs a basketball fix before summer, SBA is running a two-day spring break camp at Mount Vernon Middle School in Raleigh.

  • Grades: 3rd to 8th, boys and girls
  • Time: 9 AM to 12 PM
  • Cost: $79
  • Summer sessions also available: June 22 to 26, July 13 to 17, July 27 to 31

Swimming

  • YMCA. Swim lessons and competitive teams at Triangle locations. ymcatriangle.org
  • Neighborhood swim teams. Many Wake Forest subdivisions run summer teams with signups in April and May.

Running

Ready, Set, Run! (Town of Wake Forest)

  • Ages: 8 to 13
  • What: 10 to 12 week training program ending with a 5K at Joyner Park (National Trails Day)
  • Season: March 18 to May 30, 2026
  • Cost: $50
  • Status: Registration closed. Check for waitlist openings.

Multi-Sport Rec Leagues

i9 Sports (North Wake County)

The easiest entry point for younger kids or families who want low-commitment sports.

  • Sports: Flag football, soccer, basketball, baseball/T-ball, volleyball
  • Ages: 3 to 14
  • Format: Saturday games, 6 to 8 week seasons
  • What parents like: No drafts, every kid plays, convenient schedule

Registration Tips for Wake Forest Sports Parents

  1. Register early. Town programs fill by age group. Once full, you're on a waitlist.
  2. Know the residency rules. Wake Forest residents get earlier access and lower prices. Residency = home address within town limits.
  3. Check age cutoff dates. Different leagues use different dates (April 30 for town baseball, birth year for NBT soccer). Don't assume.
  4. Volunteer to coach. You often get a guaranteed spot for your kid, plus free registration in some leagues.
  5. Budget for gear. Town leagues are affordable ($50 to $60), but factor in cleats, gloves, jerseys. Local Facebook groups are great for used gear.
